I missed the window for getting a full refund, otherwise I would have returned this scannar. It does terrible work with color film scanning is poor. Epson software is pretty much worthless.

I have had three or four scanners in the past. All have been hard to get the software to load and run and complicated to begin using. This one was a snap.
It was literally up and running in a few minutes. The unit itself is not a light piece of plastic but a substantial device. Scanning was very easy. Masks are provided to scan various negatives and slides and were easy and quick to use.
This is a very good buy for the money.

I bought this scanner because my other scanner is an all-in-one and too bulky to haul from place to place. I took my new scanner on a scrapbooking retreat weekend and even with the limited space that I was alloted, I was able to scan to my heart's content. It's fast and the quality looks wonderful on my computer. I haven't printed any of the pictures out yet, but I'm getting all my picts scanned. I also must say that the delivery was expedient - about 2 days faster than predicted. I'm very happy with this purchase!

The Epson 4490 is not an extravagant scanner. It does what it says it does and it does it pretty well. I was surprised at how slow it is at times but that all depends on the settings you have set for the scans. If you just want a scanner and don't care about advanced features, this is the one. I'm very happy with it!

For The Cost Of The Epson Scanner I'm Please With The Quality Of My Scans. I Purchase The Epson Primarily For Scanning My Negatives,35mm and Medium Format. I Have A Proximity Of Ten Thousands Negatives To Copy. I Made Several 13 X 19 Black & White Prints And Was Please With The Results. I Can't Speak On Color Haven't Had The Opportunity To Process My Color Negatives. I Don't Miss The Darkroom. Important Be Very Careful With The 35mm And Medium Format Film Holders,Not Constructed Of The Best Material. When I Get A Chance, I Plan On Purchasing An Extra Film Holder, I Sure My Luck Will Run out After Scanning My Negatives. Have Fun !
