This is the second Canon scanner we have purchased. The compact size and sheet feeding is very convenient for scanning multiple documents at a work station. The only drawback is a few misfeeds likely due to having to pull documents into the scanner from the desktip rather than vertically. However this infrequent problem does not effect our overall satisfaction with this scanner.

This is our second Canon dr-25800C scanner. We had the first one for 2 1/2 years and it was a workhorse. A piece broke off that we couldn't fix and so we just bought a new one.



We LOVE it. We use it to scan THOUSANDS of documents each week and it really is a workhorse. Great scans, easy to use, and worth every penny. We convert everything to PDF for archive storage. Only problem is you need to buy rollers (the little rubber pickers) every so often and they are not cheap, but when you do as much scanning as we do that is understandable maintenance.



We did research a couple of different ones before buying the second one, but nothign could touch this. Highly recommended.

we have one at our work and none of us have ever seen anything near 25 pages a minute or even 10 pages even at the lower black and white resolutions, expect maybe 3-4 a minute at the lower settings with a jam ever couple of minutes. Never put more then one page at a time in this scanner it will probably jam and if not it will usually fail to seperate pages. Expect the rollers to stop working in a few months, expect the entire machine to die some months after. While I'd consider the machine a horrible purchase I've gotten good color pics off it (which may take 5-10 minutes a page) thats worth something.

I bought one of these in late 2006 while shifting my office (15 employees) in a paper-less direction. That unit works well, and after 10-200 pages per day, it's still churning along (occasionally misfires, but it's still more reliable than our relatively new HP 7580 multifunction unit).



We've expanded to 3 more units since testing out that first one; all of them still function (some misfeed more than others). Buying 4x small, semi-portable high quality scanners works better for us than one mega-sized super scanner - we can move operations to hotels when we have long-term projects, and if any unit goes down, the others pick up the slack (one misfed far too much, but the situation was fixed with a new roller). I'm mostly satisfied...



But this hardware is almost 5 years old: where is the successor? Where are the modern features I need - networking, bluetooth, wireless, "scan to email"? Why does scanning business cards with this thing still suck (sorry - the relatively new card scanning function doesn't work very well for us). What about running on USB power (like some of the truly portable units)? Upgrading the software and drivers? Speeding up the "push to scan" function (which takes forever to work)?



I love these little units the same way I loved my PalmPilot in its day, but that day is long gone by.

We've gone through two of these now. In both cases, they work for about a year, then they start jamming in the back, then a small metal strip on the back door gets bent and then they are toxic waste.



We used the scanner almost every work day, but only for small jobs -- well under 50 pages/day.



Canon makes some good products, but this isn't one of them.
